Staying Human: Real-Time Regulation in High-Stress Care

Veterinary teams are asked to move quickly, stay compassionate, and manage constant emotional demand, often without a moment to reset. Over time, that pressure adds up.
This experiential session focuses on what’s happening in your body and mind in real time and how to regulate and recover without stepping away from your work.

Participants will actively engage in guided practices that build awareness, support nervous system regulation, and strengthen their ability to move between difficult interactions. The session integrates mindfulness, real-time regulation tools, and self-care planning to help participants sustain energy across a full shift, not just recover after it. We’ll also explore how stress is experienced and perceived differently across roles and identities, and what that means for how we support one another in high-pressure care environments. Participants will leave with practical tools to use immediately and a personalized approach to building and maintaining their energy reserves over time.

3:05 PM–4:05 PM

Trust Wobbles: Repairing Trust in High-Pressure Moments

In dynamic care environments, trust can shift quickly between colleagues, across roles, and in client interactions. These moments are often subtle, but their impact can be lasting.
This experiential session introduces the Trust Wobbles framework, a practical tool for recognizing when trust starts to break down and knowing how to respond in real time. Participants will explore common “trust wobbles” that show up in veterinary settings and practice clear, grounded ways to repair trust in the moment. We’ll also examine how role, identity, and lived experience shape how trust is built, broken, and restored—and why the same moment can land differently depending on who you are. Participants will leave with a shared language and actionable strategies they can use immediately within their teams and clinics to strengthen communication, reduce friction, and support more consistent, trust-centered care.

4:15 PM–5:30 PM

Different Reactions, Same Team: Navigating Dynamics Under Pressure

Even on strong teams, people respond to pressure in very different ways. Some move quickly into action, others pause to think and assess, while others feel their way through what’s happening. Over time, these patterns can create friction, misinterpretation, and disconnection.

This experiential session helps participants understand why these differences show up and how to work with them more effectively. Using an Enneagram-informed lens, participants will engage in real-time exercises to explore how action, thinking, and feeling shape responses to stress, decision making, and change. We’ll consider how identity, culture, and role influence what feels safe or acceptable, and how to navigate those differences with more awareness to reduce unnecessary conflict and strengthen connection in high-pressure environments.
