Pre-, intra-, and post-operative management of the common emergency surgeries of gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV) and splenectomy will be discussed. We will also consider the literature for performing a gastropexy at the time of splenectomy.

Management of trauma cases can be chaotic; however, knowing how to utilize pre-operative diagnostics and basic intra-operative techniques can lead to less stress for the veterinarian. This talk will focus on the timing and know-how to address these traumas commonly seen in canine patients.

This talk will discuss the effects of complications on mental health of veterinarians and physicians and what we can do to prevent them and move past them when they occur.
