Dr. Carrie McNeil is the One Health director of EcoVet Global and a consultant with EpiEcos. As a former principal member of technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories and as the One Health specialist for Ending Pandemics, Dr. McNeil brings over 20 years of experience in strengthening global health security and pandemic preparedness. In these positions, she collaborated with global partners in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia on efforts to strengthen biosafety, biosecurity, zoonotic disease response, and preparedness. As a CDC epidemic intelligence service officer, Dr. McNeil managed outbreak investigations and led community-based research on rabies knowledge and management practices in New Mexico.

AAHA One Health Guidelines
During this session, we will share the AAHA’s One Health Guidelines and how they can be applied in practice. A multidisciplinary team created these guidelines to help veterinary practices navigate the intricacies of cross-disciplinary communication to better serve patients and families. We will utilize the case studies in the guidelines to describe when and how to reach out to other healthcare professionals as well as to how foster relationships and collaboration with them.

One Health Readiness from Around the World to Your Practice
Effective response to health emergencies impacting the health of people and animals requires collaboration and coordination among a multitude of partners. This session will share examples of how simulation exercises have been utilized to strengthen readiness for zoonotic outbreaks globally through focusing on identifying strengths and gaps in cross-sector coordination and communication. The discussion will shift to sharing how simulation exercises can be developed to strengthen One Health readiness in the clinical setting.
