Pain Recognition, Assessment, and Treatment in Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents
This lecture provides an evidence-based review of the current understanding of pain recognition, assessment, and treatment of pain in ferrets, rabbits, and rodents. It will include information regarding the anatomy and physiology of pain in ferrets, rabbits, and rodents, the recognition of pain behaviors, their assessment using pain scales, and studies on opioids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, local anesthetics, and/or other drugs like gabapentin and cannabinoids in ferrets, rabbits, and rodents. |

Anesthetic Agents, Monitoring, and Support in Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents
This lecture provides an evidence-based review of the current anesthetic drugs, equipment, and techniques used in ferret, rabbit, and rodent anesthesia. We will review practical aspects of the induction, basic, and advanced maintenance with monitoring and support of the central nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, body temperature, and the recovery of anesthetized ferret, rabbits, and rodents. |
